Like a great storyteller, designerlebrity Aaron B. Duke prefers to keep to the classics. Aaron's eponymous design studio, Aaron B. Duke is located in Bel Air, CA and covers all elements of interior and architectural practices. What makes Aaron's work unique is his approach to each of his design projects. When asked the question; "What does every home need?", Aaron's simple response is......."A Story!"

EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK! Aaron B. Duke's Pasadena Showcase House of Design Library

And what a story Aaron's most recent design work tells. Taking on this year's Pasadena Showcase House of Design, a historic English Tudor home, Aaron was quickly drawn to the library. As if selecting a novel for inspiration, Aaron immediately knew what he wanted to do with the room. He made his choice to create and design the unknown story of Gerald “Jerry” Robertson.

Aaron's vision for the library was to present Mr. Robertson's classic lifestyle tale. "Jerry was the tastemaker of Ralph Lauren from 1983 to 1992. During his tenure, Jerry was responsible for the iconic Ralph Lauren NYC flagship store at the Gertrude Rhinelander Waldo House. Jerry’s design aesthetic, nuance, and attention to finite details, lead to the brands success. He was also the President of Ralph Lauren in Europe and responsible for the boutiques in London, Paris, Dallas, Beverly Hills, as well as several locations throughout Europe. Jerry was instrumental in collaborating with Ralph to create a singular vision for his brand. He later went on to work with Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors and Mossino." Described in a word, Jerry epitomized the modern day "Gentleman".

It's impossible to believe Mr. Robertson's influential story has not been narrated until now. In a beautiful visual moment, Aaron opted to design and share the life of a man who shaped the careers and lives of many of the retail industries great executives and leaders. Sadly, Jerry passed away on July 4, 2009 leaving behind his long time companion of 17 years, Paul Lester. But Jerry still lives on through Paul and the countless friends, family, and colleagues' lives he impacted. Including Aaron's as he as admitted "Jerry has had an impact on my own design aesthetic – modern luxury with a classic and timeless style."

Often times, I feel as though I experience the home design before my clients. Countless hours are spent identifying the finest finishes and fabrics, exquisite furniture, and perfect lighting. I handpick a dream team of architects, landscape designers, and crafts people who are as committed to excellence as I am. As the process evolves, I love seeing and feeling the enthusiasm a client exudes once they experience what were once sketches and drawings being brought to life in the design, craftsmanship, and execution of their home.
